TO MOTIVATE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BECOME BETTER CITIZENS

ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO JROTC

The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Program has been a long standing San Francisco Unified School District program. The program offers the opportunity for students to learn and develop leadership skills in an encouraging environment. It prepares high school students to be responsible adults geared towards success, self-improvement, as well as aiding and encouraging others to do the same in order to become better citizens.

The San Francisco JROTC Brigade consists of seven public schools in the city, including Balboa High School, Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High School, Galileo Academy of Science and Technology, Abraham Lincoln High School, Lowell High School, Mission High School, and George Washington High School. Each battalion constitutes the SF Brigade, cooperating at city wide volunteer events, competing in the annual Fall and Spring drill competitions, and living together for the duration of the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) in the summer.

This year marks the 105th year anniversary of the JROTC Program as part of the National Defense Act of 1916.

While under the guidance of retired military instructors, the JROTC Program is a student-run organization.
